The Dog Days of Winter

Who loves snow? Dogs. Dogs love snow.

They. Love. It.

They seem impervious to the cold, and they love romping around in it. It's like they're frolicking around in two feet of catnip. Or crack. Or something.

This is snow...

and this is your dog's brain on snow...

The current temperature here in my little corner of Illinois is -3°, the high is supposed to be 1°. (!) And the dogs have been begging to go outside since I made them come inside the last time. But, do they care about the ridiculously low temp? No. They just know there's SNOW OUT THERE! They're junkies, I tell ya. They've got a fevah... and the only cure is more cowbell snow.

Here's a dog sensible enough to stay inside, but he's still goofy. Apparently, he's been watching too many movies about possessed zombie paws. Possessed, evil zombie paws that are trying to STEAL HIS BONE!

Undoubtedly, that dog's hallucinations are the belated side-effects of an earlier snow romp.

Junkies, all of 'em.

Gorgeous pictures! I was in Minnesota last Christmas visiting my wife's family; first white Christmas I've had. Your pictures bring the memories flooding back. Here in Australia, it's very hot this time of year; my wife says it doesn't feel like Christmas at all. 3 below? I'm so jealous!

I love how the dogs 'snorkle' in the snow! Too cute! Then throw their heads up and fling the stuff back! LOL!

The possessed dog? Yeah, someone call for a priest and some holy water, stat.

Liam:
You're the first person I've ever heard say you were jealous of -3 degrees! That picture (unfortunately) is one I lifted from the internet. Our snow isn't nearly that pretty.

Pam:
Yikes, huh? Every time I watch that vid it makes me laugh. And I make fun of my dog for chasing his tail! At least he recognizes his own foot!
